Fleeting Memories

We met by chance

with just a glance

He was quite uncanny

rather a bit obscure

 

He appears tedious

but I find him intriguing

An air of secrecy

shrouding his existence

 

I want to get to know him

but I wind up being timid

I asked a simple question

and ended with a smile

 

I have been a bit impish

when I pulled a little prank

Instead of being riled

he just smiled and let me off

 

I was taken aback

when he called me by name

I never knew who he was

I never bothered to ask

 

He saved me once from guys

badgering here and there

asking who i was,

where i live, and who am with

 

He pretended I was his

and kept me quite close

They left with hearts broken

Dismayed Im not alone

 

I heard he was not keen

in meeting other people

I presume he felt the same way

about someone like me

 

I never got a chance to tell him

yet he knew exactly who I was

When i got a bit of courage

I asked the reason why

 

He laughed for a while

then looked into my eyes

with orbs full of life 

and uttered a reply

 

“I got your name

from a guy who knows me well 

I would not bothered to ask

If I was not interested, silly!”

 

I could not help but smile

and punched him lightly

as I see the man before me

ranting endlessly

 

I just sighed in relief

to know that Im wanted

as we looked up in the vast sky

watching clouds pass us by
